In 1949 in Groveland, Florida, four black men were wrongfully convicted of raping a white woman. They became known as the Groveland Four. Sadly, it wasn’t uncommon for the time period. Neither was what followed. All are now dead. None got the chance to clear their names.
In 2017, the state finally issued an apology. But that wasn’t enough. In order to petition for an official pardon, we created posters, thought-provoking social, and a website. The Groveland Four officially received clemency January 11, 2019.
