Ourwīc represents a packaging initiative by City Hope Community, a non-profit organization committed to supporting and empowering refugee communities in Clarkston, GA. Through this project, we've generated sustainable employment opportunities for refugee youth within the community.
Crafted with care, Ourwīc candles are made from 100% soy wax and feature cotton wicks, ensuring a clean and comforting burn.
We set out to craft a product that breaks away from the ordinary, steering clear of the generic scents found on store shelves. Teaming up with a skilled scent artist, we curated three distinct fragrances for our inaugural release: Wild Oaks, Spice Bazaar, and Tea Creeks.
In tandem with each scent, I designed illustrations that echo the essence of the ingredients, complemented by colors tailored to each unique aroma.
To keep our packaging both sleek and budget-friendly, we ingeniously integrated the colors and illustrations. Additionally, a clever cutout on the front allows customers to swiftly identify their desired scent by color.
Here are some behind-the-scenes shots capturing refugee youths crafting candles under adult supervision.
